I know they have these summer programs that are suppose to increase your chances, but I also think NROTC has those too. Secondly, don't worry about your degree. My best friend is a Marine officer with a degree in History. I wouldn't pick an easy one, but I would aim towards a degree that can help you think critically or gives you a world view. When it comes to being a Marine officer, they tend to be more concern with the drive and ability to lead marines in combat. So what I would consider more important than a certain degree would be leadership skills, so join clubs that allow you to display your leadership.
