How much does a college degree matter?

art-nerd asked:
I am especially looking for answers from college grads. Do you think a Bachelors degree, for the most part, is useless as far as getting a better job and/or salary? What about a Masters Degree? I know people with Masters who can’t get a full-time job because there are so many more people out there now with PhD’s or Doctorates to compete with. Is this a new development, or has it been this way all along? What have your experiences been?
