Online Accredited College Degree Program: for the New Student Committed to Success

Saturday, January 30th, 2010
Jim Zorn asked:

An online accredited college degree program allows you to take individual online college courses and to get an impressive college degree, without having to attend on-campus classes.

These programs are ideal for non-traditional adult students, who can study at their convenience, while meeting their work and family responsibilities. They get a second chance to complete their college education and to acquire a degree that will add to their career portfolio.

You can join an online accredited college degree program and get a Bachelor’s degree, Master’s degree or Doctorate in a subject of your choice. Some of the popular subjects are business, information technology, computer science, education, psychology, social work, counseling and journalism.

Many students prefer to join professional certificate programs in subjects like stress management, security management, law enforcement and public health nursing, that will help them in their careers.

What you need to consider before you sign up

Before you join an online accredited college degree program you need to be sure about your personal goals and how an online college degree will help you to reach them. If there is a clearly defined benefit that an online college degree can provide, like a pay raise, promotion or a better job, you must go ahead and join the course.

A college degree doesn’t come cheap and you need to carefully weigh the costs and benefits of joining an online accredited college degree program. Find out if your employer offers some type of tuition assistance as an employee benefit.

You need the support of your family and employer and be prepared to find time to work on the online degree program, in spite of having a packed schedule. You must be fully committed, have a positive attitude and believe that you can succeed through your own efforts.

Two-year schools offer associate degrees and certificate programs, while four-year schools and universities provide bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees. Two-year schools are suitable for students who are very concerned about the cost and are not sure of their long-term goals or academic capabilities.

Four-year schools are suitable for students who are clear about their goals and are confident about their academic capabilities. Certificate courses are suitable for people who want to update their work skills, while degree courses are suitable for people who require an advanced degree and want to enter a professional field.

Institutions offering accredited online college degree programs

The University of Maryland University College (UMUC) offers several online bachelor’s degrees and undergraduate certificates. It is accredited by the Commission on Higher Education, Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Philadelphia.

The University of Phoenix Online is the nation’s largest, accredited private university. It is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

Before you sign up for an online accredited college degree program, you must be clear about your career goals. Look for a school and a program that will help you to achieve what you want and be fully committed to success.

What’s on offer:

The number of colleges, schools and universities offering online college degree programs is increasing rapidly by the day. In such a scenario, it gets difficult to pin down the exact program that fits your criteria; this is when an online college degree resource can be of immense help.

These resources not only offer you names of various colleges, but give you an overview of the college, a brief description of the courses, the fee structure, duration, eligibility and a lot more of such information including links to the websites of the individual colleges. Also available are useful articles and advice from consultants and experts.

Free downloadable e-books are also offered for those who want to go through a detailed list of options at leisure. And once you have made your decision about the online degree program you want to join, simply enrol yourself by filling in the online application form.

The resources:

The first step to take while researching your educational options is to browse an online degree resource like the website World Wide Learn where you can find programs right from associate degrees to PhDs.

You will find that, because of the growing demand for online education, many of the non-traditional universities and colleges, such as the University of Phoenix, among many others, are offering quality programs that are on par with the regular campus based ones.

Another resource, such as the website Get Educated, gives you rankings for online colleges, thus enabling you to see who offers the top MBA program or a Nursing program from among hundreds of options.

Also depending on your learning skills and requirements, choose an online college than gives you the flexibility to complete your education without altering your routine. This way, you can earn your degree without having to leave your job and even enjoy the benefit of equipping yourself with a degree that will help you further your career.

Wherever you may reside in the world, an online college degree resource will help you find that right course you are looking for in a college of your choice. Simply explore the online resource sites, and you will be able to target the ideal school that suits your needs.

Why is it so important to have a college degree?

Thursday, January 21st, 2010
Boo8081 asked:

There is a position open in my work place. When the girl that has the job is out of the office, I feel the job. She has the degree and I do not. She will be out of the office starting in June and will not be back until December. My boss wants to me to fill the position because I know how to do the job and they won’t have to train anyone else. When the president of the company found out about this he was upset because I didn’t have a college degree. I start school in July. The thing that upsets me is that I already do the job when she is out and now he is making a big deal of it. Please help. I need to understand this.

When applying for a job at McDonalds, is it best to not include your college degree?

Monday, January 11th, 2010
SadWoman asked:

I am desperate and I am tired of hanging around the house all day. I want to save money and eventually pay down my debt and start paying off my student loan. I am going to apply for a job at McDonalds because I need something to do. Should I leave off my college degree on the application?
I have tried everything. I am competing with people with 15 years of experience and several Master’s degrees. Nobody wants my fresh-out-of-college butt.
