How much credibility do employers see in online degrees?

Saturday, February 16th, 2008
pa4vt asked:

Also, do bosses see enough credibility in online master’s degree to grant payraise to an employee who attains one besides working hard and doing a good job? Will employers consider someone who at least got an online degree from an accredited school if not a big name school? I’m thinking about getting an online master’s since I need to keep steady with my current job. For any hiring managers or bosses who’ll answer this post, what’s your take?

Question about University of Phoenix and Learning Disabilities?

Saturday, February 16th, 2008
littledeaftink asked:

I’m 27 and I live in southern california. I really want to become a special education teacher as that is my true calling. I absolutely love working with disabled children. I am really interested in going to university of phoenix due to the fact that I am already 27 and their program is faster than other universities. My only problem is that I have learning disabilities: dyscalculia (math learning disability), dyslexia (the reading comprehension type),and a processing disorder as well as hearing loss in the right ear. My question to people who have went there is this: Do they help you to succeed? Or are they the type of university that doesn’t help you at all no matter what? I really want to know before making my decision. Thanks all!

confusedgraduate asked:

I am a recent Fine Arts grad who would love to be a pre-school teacher (teaching art and everything else).
I would like to know what the starting salaries are for both public and private schools in New York city if I had a Masters degree.
Is a masters degree even necessary? Should I just get a teaching certificate?

How are strickly online degrees viewed in the “working world” verses degrees from physical universities?

Saturday, February 9th, 2008
Andiebray asked:

I’m a single mother of a young child and I work a full time 8-5 job. I want to earn a degree in human resources, but with my already jam packed schedule, attending classes will not work for me. I am concerned that I will put time and money into an online program/college to obtain a worthless degree. What online colleges/universities actually supply positively recognized degrees?
