Is the University of Phoenix an accredited school?

I was thinking about attending this school. However I have this funny little feeling that there full of it. I think they may just want my money. I did a little background check and I found both good and bad thing about them. I want to get a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. I’m worried that I will waste 43 months of my time earning the degree. It will cost me thousands of dollar that I will have to pay back. I have feeling that nobody will hire me if once they know I received my degree via Internet from the University of Phoenix. I want to be a probation officer. If anyone is a probation officer and received there degree on line. Please let me know. If anyone received a degree or attended the University of Phoenix please tell me about your experience.
